Punjab Kings Beat Kolkata Knight Riders in the last over thriller when Shahrukh Khan hit a six over long on fielder for the winning runs.
With this victory Punjab Kings keep their hopes alive to qualify for the playoffs while Kolkata despite being on no. 4 will be in the danger zone once again. This match and win for Punjab Kings eventually benefitted Delhi Capitals as they got qualified with the 18 points in the points table.
Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders went for a descent target against Punjab bowling unit with the likes of young talent Venkatesh Iyer and Tripathi with Rana in the middle. None of other batters contributed much or KKR could par the expected score easily, they may felt the absence of Russel for finishing touch.
Punjab kings though played really well from the scratch. Openers KL Rahul and Agarwal again departed a great start with 70 runs of partnership in which Agarwal scored 40 in 27 while KL Rahul played steadily to anchor the innings till the last over.
Pooran and Markram in the middle tried well to contribute but couldn’t convert the good starts into biggies. Shahrukh Khan though played some needed shots in needed phases of the match with the strike rate of 244.4. KL Rahul scored 67 off 55 balls.
