1st Monday Box Office – Punjabi Film Qismat 2 Holds Well

Chandni Bar was probably one of the most hard-hitting drama to ever come out in Bollywood. The Madhur Bhandarkar directed film was welcomed with a magnificent reviews applauding Tabu’s performance. Without any popular star, Chandni Bar turned out to be the sleeper hit of 2001, collecting Rs 4.09 crore against a budget of Rs 1.50 crore.

Riveting, thrilling and superbly made, Johnny Gaddar was one the best who-done-it crime-thriller to ever made in Bollywood. Skillfully directed by Sriram Raghavan, Johnny Gaddar had a perfect plot, amazing performances by the star cast, solid background score and wonderful track “Move Your Body” composed by Shankar-Eshaan-Loy. Directed by Umesh Shukla, OMG! Oh My God was based on Gujarati stage-play entitled Kanji Virudh Kanji and on the 2001 Australian film The Man Who Sued God. OMG! Oh My God is a classic example of how a content driven film can turn into a blockbuster. The comedy drama opened with a decent collections but thanks to a powerful word-of-mouth reviews, OMG! Oh My God was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2012. It was Paresh Rawal’s electrifying performance which grabbed several eyeball. OMG collected a massive Rs 81 crore against a budget of Rs 25 crore.

From Sharat Katariya, who earlier made the sleeper hit Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, Sui Dhaga is produced by Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The reviews of Sui Dhaaga were good which helped in collecting Rs 76 crore against a budget of Rs 48 crore.

Pataakha – 2018

Sui Dhaaga faced some competition from Vishal Bhardwaj directed Pataakha for which the reviews have been equally good.The Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan, Vijay Raaz Sunil Grover starrer could not sustain at the box office but was appreciated by the niche audience. The comedy-drama collected just Rs 7.50 crore against a budget of Rs 19 crore and flopped at the box office.
