This incident happened in South Delhi's Ansal Plaza wherein a woman in a saree was restricted to enter the restaurant premises.The NCW(National Commission of Women) is speculating the case and asked Delhi Police to give the minute details of what actually happened there and as to why she was not allowed to enter?

Meanwhile they ordered the Aquila’s director to be present there before it on September 28 with the supporting documents and files as it would act as a medium of explanation for the case. NCW statement said, “Reportedly, the restaurant’s dress code policy for guests allows only smart casuals and according to the eatery, saree does not fall under smart casuals,”

Further adding “The Commission condemns the arbitrary and bizarre behaviour of restaurant staff and its policies.”By posting a video on social media on September 19 incident the woman said “Saree is not allowed in Aquila restaurant as Indian saree is now not a smart outfit. What is the concrete definition of a smart outfit? Plz tell me.”

In the video one of the staff member was heard telling, “We only allow smart casuals and saree does not come under smart casuals”.Eventually the video went viral and caught the attention of the viewers due to which the restaurant faced due circumstances.

Seeing to it they responded by issuing a statement on it on Wednesday which statement said :“At Aquila, we believe in honouring our Indian community and have always welcomed our guests in all dress codes from modern to traditional.” They stated that the woman slapped one of their staff member as they were not allowing her to enter the restaurant.

They also brought into due consideration that the Woman violently slapped one of their staff member.“To tackle the situation and request the guest to leave, one of our gate managers made a statement on sarees not being a part of our smart casual dress code; our whole team apologises for the same,”

Later on Thursday ABVP members were against it and appealed the management service to apologise for their behaviour.
