Lord Ganesha's Festival Ganesh Chaturthi has started. Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most celebrated festivals in India which unites people from all religions, Caste, Creed altogether. This 10 Days festival is usually celebrated in August or September depending on the Hindu Calendar.

Initially, Ganesh Chaturthi was being celebrated as a public event in Pune Since the reign of Shivaji Maharaj ( 1630- 1680), the founder of the Maratha Empire. However, in 1893, Lokmanya Tilak reformed this festival into a large, well-organised festival event to bring people together.

This Sacred festival is Celebrated Wholeheartedly in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa, etc. Not only all over India But also in countries like Canada, Mauritius, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Burma, the United States, United Kingdom, Fiji Celebrate this festival & Many of the mentioned countries Government have declared government holiday on that Day.

Toronto, the Capital of Canada Celebrates this festival of Ganesh Chaturthi as some Indian residents of this city are Ganesh Devotees. They Celebrate this festival with typical traditional methods, sing aarti & share prasad even with the Limited resources.

MAURITIUS:

Since 1982, Ganesh Chaturthi is Celebrated by a Hindu community that Consists of 52% population of that island. The First Day of Ganesh Chaturthi is declared a Public holiday. Though not on a large scale, this festival is celebrated in regional temples or individual homes. Sacred Ganesh idols out of the mud are established at temples & homes. Devotees visit temples, offer aarti, enjoy prasad & enjoy the traditional dance.

UNITED KINGDOM:

Hounslow, the principal town in London also welcomes Lord Ganesha on a large scale. More than 500 people show up every year at the Laxmi Narayan temple where the idol is placed. Followed by a Grand aarti, with traditional food, fancy dress competition throughout the day, & later the idol is immersed in the Thames followed by 4000 devotees, police protection& 50 Volunteers to ensure people's safety.

As a large Indian community resides in the United States, this festival is celebrated wholeheartedly there. They import idols from Mumbai & the celebration continues till the 11th Day. This festival attracts over 10,000 visitors to the states. The big pooja features aarti, music & dance in the cultural environment.
