Though his fourth film in Bollywood, Ram Gopal Varma cemented his status with fun-loving Rangeela. The movie was full on entertainment right from the beginning till the end. Brilliant music composed by A.R.Rehman, electrifying performances by Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar and amazing direction ensured the movie was a “Blockbuster” at the box office, collecting Rs 20.22 crore against a budget of Rs 4.50 crore.

Although Hrithik Roshan signed Fiza before Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, the Khalid Mohamed directed film became his second release of the year. The euphoria generated by Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai was enough to generate a breath-taking opening for Fiza. Audience were little disappointed as Karisma Kapoor had more screen presence than Hrithik Roshan but that did not deter the movie from becoming “Semi-Hit” at the box office, collecting Rs 14.67 crore against a budget of Rs 5.50 crore. The performances of Karisma Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Jaya Bachchan was lauded as well.
