Shabana Azmi defended husband Javed Akhtar after he came under attack of trolls for taking a jig at Shashi Tharoor's singing in Hindi. The veteran actress asked the trolls to 'just chill' and that the lyricist's remark was in pure jest, as the politician is a good friend.
Recently, Shashi Tharoor had shared a video from an event in which he was seen singing Kishore Kumar's Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se. Akhtar found it quite amusing and took a dig at the politician for his Hindi pronunciation.
After Javed Akhtar took a dig at Shashi Tharoor for singing a Hindi song, trolls started attacking the lyricist on Twitter. Shabana Azmi decided to defend her husband and praise the Congress leader. "Shashi! That's lovely," she wrote, adding, "And all those trolls just chill . Shashi Tharoor is a good friend and Javed’s remark was in pure jest!."
Recently, at an event in Srinagar, Shashi Tharoor sang a Hindi song. The parliamentarian shared a video from the event where he can be seen singing Kishore Kumar's Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se. Sharing the video, Shashi Tharoor wrote, "After the cultural programme by Doordarshan Srinagar for the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, I was persuaded to sing for the Members. Unrehearsed and amateur but do enjoy!"
Javed Akhtar didn't shy away from commenting on the politician's performance. Taking a dig at Tharoor's singing, Javed wrote, "Wow! We have almost a similar song in Hindi too!!!."
Shabana Azmi is Javed Akhtar's second wife. The couple married in a traditional Muslim ceremony in 1984.
