The taboo behind the word ‘condom’ is the storyline of the Zee5 film Helmet. It features Ayushmann Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee and Ashish Verma. Mad behind money, 3 youngsters make a plan to rob a truck full of electronics but to their bad luck, the truck they steal doesn’t consist of any electronic appliances but a boxes full of condoms. We exclusively spoke to one of the leads of the film, Abhishek Banerjee.
Abhishek talks about how the word CONDOM has been normalised now with time, but back then it was considered as a word, men would hesitate to pronounce. Abhishek says, “Just saying the word Condom I think can help. We do not want to talk about it, normalise it considering it is a very important part of our lives. We want to reach out to the youth of our country from preventing them from any accident or acceptance which can cause them from any kind of serious problem. I personally faced obstacles while buying condoms just like a lot of men. I hope for it brings some change.”
We need more thought provoking films like Helmet, which actually instigates a sense of thoughtfulness in the audience members!
