BTS Army Appeals to Make 'We Demand Apology' Trend in India After Spanish Podcast

Ananya Panday got trolled a long way back for comments she had made about the K-Pop band(and global sensation) BTS, and Alia Bhatt was greeted with a mixed response for her shout-out for the Bangtan Boys and their number, 'Butter', fans of the band, also commonly known as the BTS Army, are demanding an apology for an insulting Spanish Podcast that occured on Tuesday night.

In the podcast, five radio station personalities are seen disparagingly depicting BTS as “Chinese backstreet boys.” They affirmed that “they have got surgeries done to look like a mix of Asians and North Americans.” The fans, normally, were vexed and extremely soon the hashtag #WeDemandApology was trending at No.1 in India. Also trending was the related hashtag #StopAsianHate .

BTS is one of the most popular boy bands worldwide, whose members include R.M.(Kim Namjoon), Jin(Kim Seokjin), Suga(Min Yoongi), J-Hope(Jung Hoseok), Jimin(Park Jimin), V(Kim Teahyung) and Jungkook(Jeon Jungkook). A member of the Twitterati wrote: “the fact that they r old enough to know what’s right n wrong this is disgusting. they didn’t even hesitate to say these words with ppl listening to them. we demand an apology !! #EstoNoEsRadioXenofobico #StopAsianHate #XenoPhobiaIsNotHumour."

After that another expressed a similar sentiment : “ it’s always bts who sufferes from racism. that’s why they use their platform about this because they, themselves, are experiencing it. EDUCATE YOURSELF TO RESPECT OTHERS. WE DEMAND AN APOLOGY #EstoNoEsRadioXenofobico #StopAsianHate #XenoPhobiaIsNotHumour."

Yet another angry person tweeted: “ the fact that they are hired as Radio host is just ridiculous. Didn’t they even think twice b4 broadcasting it ?
