Director Christopher McQuarrie posts MI7's new set images which celebrates the movie’s first Assistant Director: Read to know more

Director Christopher McQuarrie recently posted a set of images that stars the main cast on the set of their upcoming actioner Mission Impossible 7 set. The post also dedicated first assistant director Mary Boulding, who, by the filmmaker’s own acknowledgement, oversaw the first 100 days of production very well.

Christopher’s social media post was captioned saying, “Congratulations to the Fabulous Mary Boulding, celebrating her 100th day on her first show as a First AD. From everyone on the crew: All Hail Mary for gracefully managing the impossible. #MI7MI8.” The post was showered with a lot of love on social media, with even Mission Impossible actor Simon Pegg chiming in with a “Hail Mary!” comment.

Shooting one of the most expected actioners in such a difficult time of the pandemic, and having Tom Cruise one of the world’s biggest superstars, clearly would have been a big task. MI7’s production has endured many setbacks during the shooting in London. A now-viral leaked audiotape that was sent out some time ago heard Cruise yelling at a crew member for breaking Covid-19 policies on the set late last year. “If I see you do it again, you’re f–king gone. And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f*****g do it again,” the actor was heard saying in the clip.

Nevertheless, having assisted as the first AD on programs like 1917, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Tim Burton’s Dumbo and HBO’s Succession, it was no surprise that Boulding dealt with the challenges just fine.

Even though there is no official title for Mission Impossible 7, the movie is planned to release in May next year.
