Ravi Kumar was trailing 0-2 in the first round before he bounced back to level the score but the round ended with Uguev ahead 4-2.

Uguev then raced to a 7-2 lead before Ravi Kumar fought back with 2 more points but couldn't overturn the 3-point deficit in the end and lost the bout, but not without giving the Russian a tough fight.

Ravi Kumar, a two-time Asian champion, was extremely disappointed with the final result as he couldn't win the top prize.

"I do feel good for the silver but I could have done better. There were probably some shortcomings today. I tried my best to win the gold but missed out by a small margin," Ravi Kumar Dahiya told India Today's Boria Majumdar and Rahul Rawat over the phone.

Ravi Kumar is only the second Indian wrestler after Sushil Kumar to clinch a silver medal at the Olympics. He is also the fifth medal winner in this Games after Mirabai Chanu, PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, men's hockey team and Ravi Kumar Dahiya.
