EXCLUSIVE: Vaibhavi Shandilya talks about playing the role of Dev Kunwari in her latest web series Chhatrasal

The multilingual, multifaceted talented actress Vaibhavi Shandilya has won hearts for her recently released historical period drama set in 1700s. The series is based on the war-story between Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and ruler Chhatrasal. The actress who is playing the role of ‘Dev Kunwari’ in the series exclusively spoke to us and spilled the beans about her role and the preparation she underwent for the same.

Firstly, the actress spoke about her character in the series. She said, “Personally, I had the responsibility of playing a role of brave Dev Kunwari, as I am a normal girl so it was tough to play a character of such a huge canvas. Salute to Dev Kunwari Ji as she was very intellectual and brave. As we say ‘Behind Every Successful Man There Is A Woman’ and she is the true example of this.”

The actress then spoke about how even a single scene in historical series or films, if misinterpreted can create a ruckus leading to protests and boycott. Explaining how in detail they chalked out everything while making the magnum opus, She says, “The director of Chhatrasal, Anadi Chaturvedi has spoken to the people who live in Bundelkhand and are emotionally connected with thier former ruler Chhatrasal and has taken care that no one’s sentiments gets hurt. He has asked for their permission before doing everything. So I was not under any burden of this sort.”

Lastly, Vaibhavi revealed the preparation she had to go through for the role of great woman Dev Kunwari. She continues, “Talking about the preparation for the show, I did a lot of research. I read so many books, I saw videos. Anadi Chaturvedi Sir has helped me a lot in this. I can’t match up the level of Dev Kunwari Ji in real life, But I gave my best for the role.”

Vaibhavi has surely justified the role and has aced the character of Dev Kunwari in the series!
