Both Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari and John Abraham starrer Romeo Akbar Walter had a fantastic hold on Monday at the box office.
Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari is still ringing bell at the box office as it enters in its fourth week. After a record breaking first week collection of Rs 105.86 crores, Kesari dropped in the second week with Rs 29.66 crores. Due to the release of John Abraham starrer RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter), the war-drama suffered further drop but remained steady for the rest of the third week, minting a good Rs 11.69 crores. There was few new releases in Bollywood and Hollywood due to which Kesari dropped to Rs 75 lakhs on its fourth Friday but showed a good growth on Saturday with Rs 1.45 crores followed by Rs 1.70 crores.
As per early trade estimates, the collections of Kesari dropped on fourth Monday to Rs 40 lakhs, summing up the total to Rs 151.30 crores. Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari, is produced by Karan Johar, under the banner for Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios with a budget of Rs 80 crores.
Romeo Akbar Walter
RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter) got few advantages as Vivek Oberoi starrer got postponed and new releases disappointed. Based on the true story of RAW agent, Ravindra Kaushik, Romeo Akbar Walter did better than expected in its first week with Rs 32.05 crores.
The John Abraham starrer action-thriller did well on its second Friday with Rs 1.25 crores due to lack of big release. There was a good growth on second Saturday with Rs 2.25 crores followed by Rs 2.80 crores on second Sunday. As per early trade estimates, the spy-thriller showed a strong support on second Monday with Rs 75 lakhs, bringing the 11 days total to Rs 39.10 crores. The budget of Romeo Akbar Walter is Rs 34 crores (Production Cost: 24 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore).
Directed by Robbie Grewal, RAW also stars Mouni Roy in a pivotal role. Both Kesari and RAW just has one day left till 17th April until the multi-starrer, Kalank, arrives.
