As the new releases could not do much at the box office, both Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari and John Abraham starrer Romeo Akbar Walter grew well on Sunday at the box office.
Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari is still ringing bell at the box office as it enters in its fourth week. After a record breaking first week collection of Rs 105.86 crores, Kesari dropped in the second week with Rs 29.66 crores. Due to the release of John Abraham starrer RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter), the war-drama suffered further drop but remained steady for the rest of the third week, minting a good Rs 11.69 crores. There was few new releases in Bollywood and Hollywood due to which Kesari dropped to Rs 75 lakhs on its fourth Friday but showed a good growth on Saturday with Rs 1.45 crores.
As per early trade estimates, the collections of Kesari escalated further on fourth Sunday to Rs 2.05 crores, summing up the total to Rs 151.46 crores. Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari, is produced by Karan Johar, under the banner for Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios with a budget of Rs 80 crores.
Romeo Akbar Walter
RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter) got few advantages this week as Vivek Oberoi starrer got postponed and new releases disappointed. Based on the true story of RAW agent, Ravindra Kaushik, Romeo Akbar Walter did better than expected in its first week with Rs 32.05 crores. It did remained stable with Rs 1.25 crores.
Except for the Punjabi film, Manje Bistre 2, which is doing extremely good in North India, the new releases have received lukewarm response which helped the John Abraham starrer action-thriller to do well on its second Friday with Rs 1.25 crores followed by a good growth on second Saturday with Rs 2.90 crores. As per early trade estimates, the spy-thriller showed a strong support on second Sunday with Rs 3 crores, bringing the 10 days total to Rs 38.35 crores. With this collections, Romeo Akbar Walter has crossed its budget of Rs 34 crores (Production Cost: 24 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore).
Directed by Robbie Grewal, RAW also stars Mouni Roy in a pivotal role. Due to the absence of any major releases, both Kesari and RAW should do well in this weekend and will have an advantage till 17th April until the multi-starrer, Kalank, arrives.
