After a poor response, the collections of The Tashkent Files and Manje Bistre 2 showed good growth but the Hollywood super-hero flick, HellBoy showed limited traction in the first weekend at the box office.
The only pivotal release in Bollywood this week was the hard-hitting drama – The Tashkent Files. Starring actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Pankaj Tripathi, Naseeruddin Shah and Pallavi Joshi, The Tashkent Files revolves around the mysterious death of India’s 2nd Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. Due to poor reviews by the critics, The Tashkent Files opened to Rs 45 lakhs on its first day. The hard-hitting drama grew well on the second with around Rs 70 lakhs. As per early estimates, the collections went further up on Sunday with Rs 1 crores, bringing the 3 days total to Rs 2.15 crores.
The Punjabi film, Manje Bistre 2 opened better than the Bollywood films collecting Rs 1.50 crores followed by Rs 2.15 crores. As per early trade, Manju Bistre 2 collected Rs 2.40 crores on its third day, bringing the 3 days collections to Rs 6.05 crores.
The Hollywood super-hero flick, Hellboy, got off to a poor start at the box office. Panned by critics, Neil Marshall directed Hellboy still collected just Rs 75 crore on its first day at the box office, followed by Rs 1.10 crores on the second day. There was a limited growth on Sunday with Rs 1.30 crores, summing up the total to Rs 3.10 crores.
