Both Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari and John Abraham starrer Romeo Akbar Walter were steady at the box office despite bunch of new releases.
With first week collection of Rs 105.86 crores, Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari dropped in the second week with Rs 29.66 crores. Due to the release of John Abraham starrer RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter), the war-drama suffered a drop but remained steady for the rest of the third week, minting a good Rs 11.69 crores
As per early trade report, Kesari went dropped slightly on fourth Friday to Rs 80 lakhs, summing up the total to Rs 148.01 crores. Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari, is produced by Karan Johar, under the banner for Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios with a budget of Rs 80 crores.
Romeo Akbar Walter
Based on the true story of RAW agent, Ravindra Kaushik, RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter) did better than expected in its first week. The spy-thriller received harsh reviews from the critics and yet managed to impress the audience ending the first week collections with Rs 32.05 crores.
Since there were no major releases yesterday, the John Abraham starrer action-thriller did well on its second Friday with Rs 1.25 crores (as per early trade estimates), bringing the 8 days total to Rs 33.30 crores.
Directed by Robbie Grewal, RAW also stars Mouni Roy in a pivotal role. The budget of RAW is Rs 34 crores (Production Cost: 24 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore). Due to the absence of any major releases, both Kesari and RAW should do well in this weekend and will have an advantage till 17th April until the multi-starrer, Kalank, arrives.
