Naezy Aka Naved, The Baa

Ranveer Singh will be portraying the character loosely based on Naezy, The Baa in Gully Boy.

Naezy grew up in Bombay-70, Kurla West where he had some notorious guys as his friends and would often rob stores and steal tennis balls to play. Naezy even landed in jail once for the same notorious incidents.

After sometime when Naezy realized it wasn’t the right path, he decided to do something fruitful in his life for his family. Naezy would lock himself inside his room and write songs the entire day. Naezy said he came up with his stage name Naezy as his alternate ego.

“Sean Paul’s song Temperature was an inspiration since I won’t understand a thing but all my friends and myself would love to dance on it . I used to memorize the lyrics and did not understand anything but it was fun” Recalls Naezy.

“My brother’s iPad was my Home Studio and all I gained till date is thanks to this small device.”-Naezy

Divine Aka Vivian Fernandez

Siddhanth Chaturvedi would be portraying the role based on Divine’s life in Gully Boy.

Divine’s stage name has been inspired by the calmness he found at a church he visited with his mom. Also the founder of Gully Gang,Divine’s songs like “Scene Kya Hain” and “Yeh Mera Bombay” got him immensely popular as the Indian rapper .

Divine grew up in the slums of Andheri and started rapping at a young age at school itself .His inspiration was Eminem earlier but his life completely changed when he heard a song by Lecrae. It blew him away that he was rapping about God.All that Divine is today is because of him staying alone with his grandmother since his mother and brother worked abroad.

“I believe in real Gully Music plus Hip Hop is a lifestyle but still realistic things, it is not just rich cars, drugs and drinks”- Divine.

Gully Boy is directed by Zoya Akhtar and has Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in leading roles along with Siddhanth Chaturvedi releasing on 14th February.
