The Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Kirti Kulhari starrer URI-The Surgical Strike and Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi again showed a very good growth on Sunday at the box office.
URI The Surgical Strike
URI – The Surgical Strike kept on making its producers happy after a solid Rs 70.94 crores in first week, Rs 62.54 cro, res in second week, Rs 37.34 crores in third week and Rs 29.02 crores in fourth week. Despite the release of news films yesterday, the war drama has collected a good Rs 2.27 crores on its 29th day while the earnings went up to Rs 4.60 on the 30th Day. On Sunday (31st Day), the business of the action drama escalated to Rs 6.40 crores, bringing the overall total to Rs 213.29 crores and crossing the lifetime collections of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs 210.61 crores). Directed by Aditya Dhar, URI is estimated to be made on a budget of Rs 42 Crores all inclusive of prints and advertising cost (Production Cost: 35 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 7 Crore). The film is based on the 2016 Indian Army’s surgical strikes on Pakistan Administered Kashmir as a retaliation for the URI attack.
Manikarnika-The Queen Of Jhansi
The Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika has shown strong legs at the ticket window, bringing the first week collections to good Rs 61.15 crores. Despite the release of Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rajkummar Rao starrer Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, the collections were good in second week with Rs 23.40 crores.
Mannikarnika held well on its third Friday with Rs 1.25 crores. As per early estimates, the collections grew by almost 115% on third Saturday to Rs 2.65 crore. The collections further grew on Sunday minting a staggering Rs 3.55 crores, summing up the 16 days total to Rs 92 crores (Hindi + Tamil + Telugu).
Directed by Krish, Manikarnika still has some chance touching 100 crores since there are only two small films releasing – Amavas and The Fakir Of Venice has under-performed at the box office.
