Alita, Amavas And The Fakir Of Venice First Day Box Office Report – Check Out Which Film Opened Bigger

The Hollywood film Alita Battle Angel dominated the box office yesterday as the Nargis Fakhir and Sachin Joshi starrer Amavas and Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor starrer The Fakir Of Venice struggled at the ticket window.

Alita The Battle Angel

From the maker of films like The Terminator, The Abyss, Titanic and Avatar, James Cameron is producing Alita Battle Angle while Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Spy Kids) is wearing the director’s hat. The trailer, promotion and the enthralling CGI is what went helped the audience come to the theaters along with very good reviews. Alita The Battle Angel collected a good Rs 2.75 crores from its English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu versions.

Directed by Bhushan Patel who made 1920: Evil Returns, Ragini MMS 2 and Alone, Amavas is yet another horror flick, starring Nargis Fakhri and Sachin Joshi. The film had no star value and the trailer itself was poor. The songs were a letdown and so were the reviews which made Amavas open to just Rs 55 lakhs on its first day at the box office.

The Fakir Of Venice

The other film was a long delayed project, The Fakir Of Venice, which was supposed to release in 2009. The comedy drama, starring Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor finally the release date but opened to lackluster reviews all around. The film was a washout from the first show itself and will not able to make any impact at the box office, collecting just Rs 20 lakhs
