2018 has been a significant year for Bollywood. It was an eye-opener for many producers who thought that featuring a superstar guarantee the success of a film. 2018 also showed us that audience are maturing as they are willing to see new ideas being implemented in the film. While 2018 was the year of blockbusters, there were few films which went ahead and broke the box office records and set the benchmark for other films.

Though 2019 started off on a sad note for Rajkumar Hirani, director of the biggest grosser of 2018 – Sanju, due to the sexual allegation against him by one of his assistant director, the talented filmmaker is already working on the third part in the blockbuster franchise, Munnabhai M.B.B.S 3, which will bring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi together as our favorite Munnabhai and Circuit. After stunning everyone with his beautiful film, Padmaavat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be announcing his next big project and it will not star his favorite pair Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

Giving back-to-back blockbusters , Rohit Shetty (director of Simmba) is already ready for his next big film, which again will be an action-cop drama and will star Akshay Kumar, titled Sooryavanshi. After this, Rohit Shetty will collaborate with Salman Khan for one more cop drama, to be produced by Sajid Nadiawala. The film will be based on the character of Devi Lal Singh a.k.a Devil, who becomes a police officer at the end of Kick (2014). Director of comedy films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Luv Ranjan has signed Ranbir Kapoor and Ajay Devgan for his next film. Deepika Padukone might join the star cast and the film will likely go on floors from November or December.

After giving a riveting film, Raazi, Meghna Gulzar has already signed Deepika Padukone for the biopic on Laxmi Agarwal – Chhapaak, who was an acid attack survivor. Probably one of the most talented director, Sriram Raghavan, has already started working on next film Ekkis, based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal, after the huge success of Andhadhun. While Ahmed Khan has already signed Baaghi 3 after the success of Baaghi 2, Rajkumar Gupta has started shooting for the action crime thriller, India’s Most Wanted, starring Arjun Kapoor, post Raid.

Following the success of Stree, Amar Kaushik will do the Hindi remake of the Marathi National award-winning film on surrogacy, Mala Aai Vhaychay. On the other hand, Amit Ravindernath Sharma, director of Badhaai Ho, will work on a film about the Golden Era of Indian football. Director of one of the best reviewed film, Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran, Abhishek Sharma has already announced his next film, The Zoya Factor, starring Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salman. After a huge success of Veere Di Wedding, Shashanka Ghosh will focus on screen adaptation of The Betel Nut Killers, starring veteran actors – Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher and Ratna Pathak.
