Emraan Hashmi is back Why Cheat India which is his major release since the action-drama Baadshaho. Let us see how much the satirical drama on the education system collected on its first day.
The Baadshaho actor has been struggling for quite some time to deliver a solid hit as his last moderate success was Hamari Adhuri Kahani, way back in 2015. Emraan Hashmi is returning to silver screen after the last year average grosser, Baadshaho. The trailer of Why Cheat India looked promising but the songs have failed to catch up. The early reviews have not been up to the mark and that showed in the morning show occupancy which opened to a dull response with just 5-10%.
As the day progressed, the comedy-drama failed to pick up in the evening and night shows. As per early trade reports, Why Cheat India is set for one of the lowest opening films for a Emraan Hashmi starrer with a collections somewhere between Rs 2-3 crores. Though the collections are better than Arshad Warsi starrer Fraud Saiyaan and Govinda starrer Rangeela Raja, it is way beyond lower than Vicky Kaushal starrer URI – The Surgical Strike.
The budget of Why Cheat India is around Rs 27 crores (Production Cost: 17 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore).
