The Vicky Kaushal starrer URI-The Surgical Strike and the Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna starrer The Accidental Prime Minister grew at the box office on the third day.
URI – The Surgical Strike
URI – The Surgical Strike received positive response from the critics and that reflected in its collections as the war drama has opened to Rs 8.25 crores which has gone beyond what trade was expecting. Since content of the war-drama is good, the film did solid business on Saturday collecting Rs 12.43 crores. URI – The Surgical Strike showed a solid growth of Rs 15.54 crores, closing the first weekend box office with Rs 36.17 crores at the domestic box office. URI is estimated to be made on a budget of Rs 25 Crores all inclusive of prints and advertising cost (Production Cost: 18 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 7 Crore). The film is based on the 2016 Indian Army’s surgical strikes on Pakistan Administered Kashmir as a retaliation for the URI attack.
The Accidental Prime Minister
The much controversial and bold subject, The Accidental Prime Minister, based on the life of stars Manmohan Singh, the economist and politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. The reviews have been decent to average but the controversial did well and opened with Rs 4.50 crores. There was a decent growth of Rs 5.30 crores on Saturday.
As per early trade estimate, the political drama collected a healthy Rs 6.35 crores on its third day at the ticket window, bringing the total collections to Rs 16.10 crores. The Accidental Prime Minister is based on the 2014 memoir of the same name by Sanjaya Baru, has a budget of Rs 40 crores.
