Ranveer Singh’s Simmba dropped grew well on its third Saturday at the box office despite the release of URI-The Surgical Strike and The Accidental Prime Minister. Let us check how Ranveer Singh’s previous film Padmaavat performed during the same time.
Released in 4983 screens worldwide , (India: 4020 and Overseas: 963), Simmba had opened to a thunderous response with Rs 20.74 crores on its first day beating the opening day collection of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero which minted Rs 20.14 crores. There was a very good growth on Saturday with 15-20%, collecting Rs 23.33 crores. The earning went up by a staggering 25% touching Rs 31.06 crores on Sunday. The collections on Monday was better than Friday with Rs 21.24 crores which was simply astonishing. Simmba delivered a knockout performance on Tuesday owing to the New year holiday with Rs 28.19 crores.
There was a drop on Wednesday but it was still in double digit with Rs 14.49 crores. The collections were simply superb on Thursday with Rs 11.78 crores while second Friday was really good with Rs 9.02 crores. The earnings went up on second Saturday to Rs 13.32 crores while Sunday was electrifying with Rs 17.49 crores. The collections dropped on 2nd Monday to Rs 6.16 crores. There was a slight drop on 2nd Tuesday with Rs 6.03 crores. The earnings held well on 2nd Wednesday to Rs 5.31 crores while Thursday was decent with Rs 4.29 crores. Due to the URI-The Surgical Strike and The Accidental Prime Minister, Simmba crashed on its 15th Day and collected Rs 2.60 crores. There was a solid growth on 3rd Saturday with around 42% to Rs 3.70 bringing the total to Rs 218.73 crores.
On the other hand, Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed Padmaavat was outstanding with Rs 12.50 crores on its 7th Day at the box office. On its 8th day, the period war-drama was superb with Rs 11 crores while earnings showed a fabulous growth on 9th Day with Rs 10 crores. The earnings for Padmaavat grew to a solid Rs 16 crores on its 10th day.
The collections were simply outstanding on 11th Day with Rs 20 crores, while the earnings dropped heavily on the 12th Day to Rs 7 crores while it held well on the 13th Day to Rs 6 crores. There was a slight drop on the 14th day with Rs 5.5 crores while it remained stable on 15th Day with Rs 5 crores. There was a reasonable drop on the 16th day with Rs 3.50 crores, bringing total domestic collection to Rs 239.50 crores.
