The Vicky Kaushal starrer URI-The Surgical Strike opened to a fabulous response at the box office on its first day.
While 2018 saw the hard-hitting patriotic drama, Parmanu-The Story Of Pokhran starring John Abraham, which opened to a decent response but due to strong word of mouth reviews, it went on to collect Rs 66 crores(approximately), 2019 opened with a bang. URI – The Surgical Strike had a fantastic trailer with punching dialogues and solid promotion that worked in its favor. The war-drama has received positive response from the critics and that reflected in the morning shows which opened to a healthy 20-25%.
As per early trade estimate, the war drama has opened to Rs 7-8 crores which has gone beyond what trade was expecting. If the content of the war-drama is good, it will be an icing on the cake for the film and can do good business on Saturday and Sunday.
URI is estimated to be made on a budget of Rs 25 Crores all inclusive of prints and advertising cost (Production Cost: 18 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 7 Crore). The film is based on the 2016 Indian Army’s surgical strikes on Pakistan Administered Kashmir as a retaliation for the URI attack.
