Ranveer Singh is having the best phase of his life as both his films Simmba and Padmaavat has touched the 500 crores milestone in 2018. With this achievement, he has joined Salman Khan who was the only actor to score 500 crores with two films in a year.
Released in 4983 screens worldwide , (India: 4020 and Overseas: 963), Simmba had opened to a thunderous response with Rs 20.74 crores on its first day beating the opening day collection of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero which minted Rs 20.14 crores. There was a very good growth on Saturday with 15-20%, collecting Rs 23.33 crores. The earning went up by a staggering 25% touching Rs 31.06 crores on Sunday. The collections on Monday was better than Friday with Rs 21.24 crores which was simply astonishing. Simmba delivered a knockout performance on Tuesday owing to the New year holiday with Rs 28.19 crores. There was a drop on Wednesday but it was still in double digit with Rs 14.49 crores.
The collections were simply superb on Thursday with Rs 11.78 crores while second Friday was really good with Rs 9.02 crores. The earnings went up on second Saturday to Rs 13.32 crores while Sunday was electrifying with Rs 17.49 crores. The collections dropped on 2nd Monday to Rs 6.16 crores. There was a slight drop on 2nd Tuesday with Rs 6.03 crores. The earnings held well on 2nd Wednesday to Rs 5.31 crores, bringing the total collections to Rs 208.14 crores.
Ranveer Singh already created waves as Alauddin Khilji in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s war drama, Padmaavat, which collected an enormous Rs Rs 302.15 at the domestic box office. With Simmba and Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh made 2018 memorable with Rs 510.29 crores and became the only actor to join Salman Khan to score over 500 crores with two films in a year. Salman Khan broke the record in 2015 with Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320.34 crores) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs 210.16 crores), bringing a total of Rs 530.50 crores, which would be ultimately beaten by Ranveer Singh
Simmba also stars Sonu Sood in lead role and is a remake of 2015 Telugu blockbuster film Temper. Simmba is produced by Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar. Simmba is estimated to be made on a budget of Rs 125 Crores all inclusive of prints and advertising cost (Production Cost: 100 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 25 Crore).
