MeToo Movement: Sexual Abuser Alok Nath Granted Anticipatory Bail Over Vinta Nanda Rape Case!

Seems like a little bit of respite has been given out to Me Too accused Alok Nath, who’s been accused of sexual harassment by Tara producer-writer Vinta Nanda during the large-scale #MeToo movement in Bollywood.

The veteran actor who had been accused of allegedly raping Vinta Nanda, has been granted anticipatory bail by Mumbai Sessions Court. Reportedly, Alok Nath pleaded for this bail from the law forces to be granted post the registration of Vinta’s official FIR against him in a Police Station on October 18, 2018.

Moreover, on top of that, the actor took to filing a defamation suit of Re. 1, on Vinta Nanda, for tarnishing his image publicly. It all started when during the MeToo movement, post Tanushree Dutta’s brave confession of her own sexual harassment case brought several victims to the forefront.

Vinta Nanda had taken to her Facebook account to post a her story of being harassed and molested on October 8.

The producer of 90’s show Tara wrote, “I can remember more liquor being poured into my mouth and I remember being violated endlessly. When I woke up the next afternoon, I was in pain. I hadn’t just been raped, I was taken to my own house and had been brutalised. I couldn’t get up for my bed. I told some of my friends but everybody advised me to forget about it and move on. My company was closed but I got a job to write and direct a series for Plus Channel. The man found his way through the casting route and became one of the lead actors on the show.”

Post this confession, Alok Nath was served with a notice from CINTAA, to put up an explanation on this grave issue. However, Alok Nath denied the claims made by Nanda and several others as well as filed a defamation suit against her. We are yet to see the end of this on-going struggle to justice!
