2018 has been a superb year for the Bollywood film industry. Not only 13 films (Padmaavat, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raid, Baaghi 2, Raazi, Race 3,Sanju, Gold, Stree, Badhaai Ho, Thugs Of Hindostan, 2.0 and Simmba) entered the 100 crore club but they were super-surprises when small budget films (Andhadhun, Stree, Badhai Ho)turned out to be an instant blockbusters. Let us find out what 2019 has in store for us.
January has been not-so great for Bollywood as audience have already spent so much during the Diwali, Christmas and the New year season and would like to take a break until and unless there is some pivotal film releasing. However, this year we have two political drama releasing on 11th January – Uri: The Surgical Strike and The Accidental Prime Minister.
25th January will be packed up with Thackery, Cheat India, Manikarnika and Super 30 (tentative).
The month of romance will have love drama starting with Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga on 1st February followed by hard-hitting dacoit-drama Sonchiriya starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar and Manoj Bajpayee. Gully Boy will be a perfect release for the Valentine’s Day with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The multi-starrer comedy Total Dhamaal will end the month on 22nd February.
The pairing of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra can again been seen in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar which will be directed by Dibarkar Banerjee and releasing on 1st March. The romantic drama will clash with yet another love story Lukka Chuppi starring Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi. On 15th March, we will see the clash of John Abraham’s Romeo Akbar Walter and Ajay Devgan’s De De Pyaar De followed by Akshay Kumar’s Kesari on 22nd March. Two talents – Kanagan Ranaut and Rajkumar Rao will come together for the first time in Mental Hai Kya releasing on 29th March.
First week of April will see the clash between Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan starrer The Zoya Factor and Vidyut Jammwal’s first Hollywood project Junglee. On 19th April, we will witness one of the biggest film of the year – Kalank starring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha.
The summer season will be kicking off with Dilijit Dosanjh and Kriti Sanon starrer Arjun Patiala on 3rd May, Tiger Shroff starrer Student Of The Year 2 on 10th May, Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra starrer Jabariya Jodi on 17th May followed by Rajkumar Gupta hard-hitting drama – India’s Most Wanted on 24th May.
The festival of EID is incomplete without a Salman Khan’s film. Bhai will be treating his fan with Abbas Ali Zafar directed Bharat, also starring Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani. The month will end with Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani which is a remake of Telgu blockbuster, Arjun Reddy,
July will see only one Bollywood film releasing – Good News starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.
The patriotic month of the year will see some desh-premee films clashing on 15th August – John Abraham’s Batla House and Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal. Nitesh Tiwary will be back after highest grossing film of Bollywood, Dangal, with Chhichhore starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Prateik Babbar, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Naveen Polishetty, Tushar Pandey and Saharsh Shukla. The multi-starrer film will clash with Made in China featuring Rajkummar Rao and Mouni Roy.
As per early report, there is only film releasing in September Taanaji The Unsung Warrior (tentative) starring Ajay Devgan.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, we will see the biggest action heroes, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, coming together in Siddharth Anand’s untitled film which will also clash with Sidharth Malhotra and Ritesh Deshmukh’s Marjaavaan. The film which was in news for MeToo movement – Housefull 4 will finally see the light of the day on 25th October.
The celebration of Diwali will open with the much awaited ABCD 3 starring Varun Dhawan and Prabhu Deva.
The winter season will commence with the Ashutosh Gowarikar’s historical war drama – Panipat, starring Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon. This will be followed by Salman Khan’s Kick 2 releasing on 20th December which will clash with Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra.
