The “epitome of talent” actor has done extremely well both as a lead as well as a character artist. Woh Saat Din (1983)

Though Anil Kapoor made his debut in the film industry with Mani Ratnam’s Pallavi Anu Pallavi (1983), Woh Saat Din (1983) was his first movie as a leading man. Brilliantly directed by Bapu, Woh Saat Din had moments of laughter by Anil Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure that will definitely bring down the house. If you have not seen the film, make sure you have it on your watch list.

Saaheb (1985)

Directed by Anil Ganguly, Saaheb was a brilliant portrayal of a man, Sunil Sharma “Saaheb” (played by Anil Kapoor) who sacrifices his sports career by selling one of his kidney to fund for his sister’s marriage. Saaheb is popular for its hit music given by Bappi Lahiri and outstanding performance by Anil Kapoor, Utpal Dutt and Rakhee.

Virasat (1997)

Virasat was a remake of Tamil film Thevar Magan, starring Kamal Hassan and Sivaji Ganesan. Directed by Priyadarshan, Anil Kapoor’s transformation from a London-returned and care-free attitude guy to a sincere and responsible son to Raja Thakur (played by Amrish Puri), was just mindblowing. There is a beautiful scene between Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri where Amrish Puri is trying to confront him to stay back in his village and solve the local people’s issue. The scene is so real as if both the actors are actually playing father-son duo.

Pukar (2000)

Anil Kapoor won his first National Award in the Best Actor category in the Rajkumar Santoshi’s hard-hitting drama, Pukar. Anil Kapoor plays the role of Major Jaidev “Jai” Rajvansh with aplomb who would go to any extent to defend his country.

No Entry (2005)
