Here is the official reaction of Tanushree Dutta after various B-Town refused to support her against what she reported and against those ignored the topic when they were asked the same. Read on…
In the ongoing #MeToo movement in India, Tanushree Dutta who has been the torch-bearer of such social evils has really led a path and has imparted confidence and given so much of courage to other women to come out. Many actors from the industry as well as netizens have supported Dutta for being so brave and for bringing the #MeToo wave in India.
While many celebs have supported Dutta for her cause from Parineeti Chopra, Farhan Akhtar to Priyanka Chopra, a few have left Tanushree disappinted. Many actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar etc have decided to remain silent when they were asked about the same at events. This has disappointed Tanushree but she hasn’t lost her conviction.
Talking about the celebrities which did not show support to her, she said, “They are considering it a controversy, not a revival. You wait for it to pass over – when you consider it a controversy. I was on national TV 10 years ago for three days – I had a lot to lose back then. I was moving to better and bigger projects back then. I had so much to lose. But I was put in a situation because I was subjected to it. I had to defend myself. I wanted to speak to protect myself from the damages. But the whole thing blew over.”
“They [big stars] are uncomfortable; some of them are complicit. A lot of people don’t have my phone number [to ring me up]. Some people have come forward on social media to provide support; some have taken a stand by not working with the perpetrators. I am not on social media so I escape reading that kind of stuff [the backlash]. But I am also aware of the encouragement I am receiving,” concluded Dutta.
