As the premier show for the biggest controversial show, Bigg Boss Season 12, on Earth is about to air on 13th October, we thought of going back to the past years and find out which season of Bigg Boss had the best TRP rating till now.
Based on the original Dutch Big Brother created by John de Mol, the Hindi version of Bigg Boss started off in the year 2007 on 26th January and was hosted by Arshad Warsi.
Since it was the first season, the show became popular with average TRP rating of 2.72. T
his was followed by Season 2 which was hosted by Shilpa Shetty and kicked off on 22 November, 2008 and picked up with the TRP rating of 2.89.
The 3rd season went into the hands of super star Amitabh Bachchan and started on 26th December, 2009. However, the show was not received well and the TRP rating went down to 2.83.
The makers experimented with Season 4 by signing Salman Khan, who took the show to the next level with a staggering TRP rating to 4.95.
Due to the time commitment of Salman Khan, the fifth season of Bigg Boss was co-hosted by Sanjay Dutt and the TRP rating dipped slightly to 4.19.
The show started getting negative reviews with average TRP rating following a roller coster ride to 6th season – 3.81 in 2012, 7th season grew again to 4.40 in 2013, 8th season dipped again to 3.77 in 2014 and went further down in 9th season to 3.28 in 2015 and worst in 10th season to 2.90 in 2016.
The makers together with Salman Khan re-worked on the strategy to promote the show which did well in 2016 with TRP rating of 3.54 and the best performing season of all in 2017 with a eye-popping TRP rating of 6.99 which marks season 11 as the highest. As the participants are gearing up to make splash in the 12th Season of Bigg Boss, it will be interesting to see the TRP rating this year.
