The big budgeted Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao starrer Fanney Khan hardly showed any growth while the Irrfan Khan starrer Karwaan and Rishi Kapoor, Tapsee Pannu starrer Mulk grew well on their third day at the box office
The biggest release among three film was Fanney Khan with celebrity premier screening, big budget, well-known star cast and solid promotion. However, the early reviews could not do help the musical drama at the box office. Fanney Khan opened to a disastrous Rs 2.15 crores on its first day. There was hardly any growth on its second day and Fanney Khan just collected Rs 2.50. As per our trade estimates, Fanney Khan could not make much business on its third day as well and brought an overall total to just Rs 7 crores. The musical drama is made on a budget of Rs 35 crores all inclusive of prints and advertising cost(Production Cost: 25 Crores & Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crores).
Irrfan Khan and Dulquer starrer Karwaan showed a good growth on its third day. Karwaan earned Rs 1.5 crores on its first day while the second day collection escalated to Rs 2.75 crores. The business on Sunday further grew to Rs 3.75 crores bringing the overall collection to Rs 8 crores (final figures to be updated). Karwaan has been receiving good reviews so the business show do well on the weekdays. However, this might be the lowest weekend gross for a Irrfan Khan starrer. His previous films –Blackmail had collected Rs 11.22 crore , Hindi Medium was at Rs 12.56 crores and Qarib Qarib Singlle earned Rs 8.30 crores. Karwaan is made on controlled budget of Rs 18 crores all inclusive of prints and advertising cost
