Box Office Report : Pad Man Starts At A Steady Note

Box Office Report : Pad Man Starts At A Steady Note

Pad Man releases today all over the nation and is enjoying a solo release after the makers of Aiyaari pushed their release for the next weekend and we think it is a smart movie. Starring Akshay KumarSonam Kapoor Radhika Apte in pivotal roles and directed by the genius R Balki who has made stupendous movies like Cheeni Kum, Paa etc in the last, Pad Man is another masterpiece by him. Dealing with the very crucial yet ignored social issue of menstrual hygiene of women in India, the film has tried it’s level best to deal with the problem in a mature and satirical way, Pad Man scores big in terms of being the most socially relevant film in the recent past putting it in the category of films like Pink, TEPK etc. The movie is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham who has won Padma Shri for his social activism & inventions.

Coming to  the opening stats and the first day collections which are still going on, Pad Man had a steady opening of about 20-25%. It was very similar to Kumar’s last release Toilet Ek Prem Katha’s stats which also had a similar opening but TEPK had an even more decent start in the smaller cities as well. The movie which is made on a relevant social issue is expected to mint even more business in the coming days in states like Gujarat, Rajasthan and MP because Tiger Zinda Hai is already finished in term of business there and Padmaavat still fighting out the protests and the bans.

The promotions around the movie were amazing and on point and they have created the right amount of buzz around the movie. Not to forget, a megastar like Kumar also plays a key role in getting such an opening. If it had been some other actor, it may not have got such decent numbers on board. The coming two days of the weekend will be very important as it will be interesting to see that whether the conservative and regressive population of the rural and smaller parts of the  nation will turn up to see the film at the theaters or not. The metro cities will surely be seeing an up in the numbers as expected.
