Shah Rukh Khan To Be Awarded The Crystal Award At The WEF Davos Summit

The King Khan Shah Rukh Khan has added another feather in his cap after he was announced as the winner of the prestigious Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos to be held later this month, other winners include Hollywood biggie Cate Blanchett and iconic musician Sir Elton John. Khan will be receiving the award for “his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India,” as per the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Amitabh Bachchan, Mallika Sarabhai, A R Rahman, Shabana Azmi, Ravi Shankar and Amjad Ali Khan are few of the other Indians who have been felicitated with this honor.

After announcing the three names in a press-con, WED said, “Each of them in their own way has taken action to uphold human dignity”. The n=big night is all set to take place on January 22 which will mark the first day of the five-day annual meeting of Geneva-based WEF.

The three awardees which include SRk will be among the 40 art and culture leaders taking part in this year’s annual WEF summit and it really makes a proud moment for all Indians. Last year, the names which won the award were Anne-Sophie Mutter, Forest Whitaker and Shakira.  In 2016, Yao Chen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Olafur Eliasson and took away the awards home. Matt Damon, Bono and Charlize Theron have also won the same award earlier.

Talking about Khan, WEF said that he is easily one of the most eminent stars of Bollywood after having completed over 30 years in the industry. Khan who is also the founder of the non-profit Meer Foundation, which aims at giving support to female victims of acid attacks and other burn injuries through medical treatment, legal aid, vocational training, rehabilitation and livelihood support is quite a revolutionary foundation of the recent times.

“With victims of acid attacks I have had the privilege to witness the unparalleled courage and compassion that women are capable of. I have seen the trans-formative strength of goodness and the healing power of gentleness,” Khan told the media. He also tweeted replying to WEF saying, ”Thank u for this honour. I consider my work with these heroic & beautiful women a great privilege as it imparts dignity & purpose to my life. I hope to spread awareness of the unparalleled heroism of these ladies & reach out to others in order to carry this work to its conclusion”.



Well, one more time Khan has made us proud and we love him even more and are so proud of him!
