Shah Rukh Khan Gets Emotional On Remembering Yash Chopra

Bollywood’s King Khan Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Yash Chopra Memorial Award 2017, yesterday. The award was presented to him by evergreen beauty Rekha.

SRK and Yash Chopra together has given us timeless love stories like Darr, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The duo have always amazed us with the particularity they show in their love stories films. We all know Yash Chopra wasn’t just a director to Khan, but one of the closest persons in his life.

Yesterday, at the honorary function, SRK got emotional while remembering Yashji.

He said, “Before I leave, and thank you more and be even more grateful for this honour, I just want to tell you a few episodes of my life with Yashji. When I started with Yashji, I started with a film called Darr, in which I was really a bad guy and I was killing people, misbehaving completely. Even without being on drugs and that was really-really intense. And I remember Yashji telling me that – Tu jab tak lover boy play nahi karega na, tera kuch nahi hona hai. (You won’t be anywhere unless you play a lover boy). But, I didn’t want to be a loverboy; I didn’t want to be a person in love; I’m not very good at romance, except when I am showing sunset to Rekha. That time I am very cool.”

He further adds, “But I really am not, and I didn’t know if I can. I didn’t think I am good-looking enough, I didn’t think I’m pretty boy enough to play romance in films and do the stuff. But he kept on telling always – Jab tak tu love story nahi karega, tera career nahi banega. (Your career won’t be good if you don’t do a love story) When Yash Chopra tells you that, there is some sense to it. So if I don’t look like a romantic hero and if I don’t act like one,I have to just by his belief and I did. And it genuinely did pay dividence. It really has created my career. Yash  Chopra has singlehandedly created my career for me to become. ”

Even after so many years, it’s quite good to see Shah Rukh Khan still giving the credit of his success to one of his favourite directors, Yash Chopra.
