The Sujoy Ghosh, Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu collaboration Badla remained unaffected inspite of Kesari wave, Junglee and Notebook and the IPL matches which was dominating the scene at the time of release.
From the director of cult movies like Jhankaar Beats and Kahaani, Sujoy Ghosh was back with taut-thriller, Badla, which was officially a remake of 2017 Spanish movie, The Invisible Guest. Amitabh Bachchan and Tapsee Pannu starrer kept the audience engaged with the edge-of-seat thriller.
Badla remained unaffected at the ticket window, especially at the city multiplexes which contributed enormously to the revenue. Badla had a very good first week collection with Rs 38 crores while the mystery-thriller continued to perform exceedingly well in the second week, collecting Rs 29.32 crores. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer dropped on the third week with Rs 11.12 crores, followed by Rs 5.25 crore in fourth week, Rs 2.43 crore in fifth week, Rs 1.71 crore in sixth week, Rs 50 lakhs in seventh week and Rs 20 lakhs in eight weeks.
Produced by Shah Rukh Khan, under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, Badla raised the total to an amazing Rs 88.53 crores and crossing the lifetime collections of Piku (which was the highest grossing film of Amitabh Bachchan as a lead star, (Rs 81 crores (approx)), Pink (which was the highest grossing film of Tapsee Pannu as a lead star, Rs 65.42 crore)) and Kahaani (Rs 51.30 crore) which was the highest grossing film of Sujoy Ghosh as a director.
