With good opening in its first two days, the Ajay Devgan directed and produced “Shivaay” was able to mint some money. However, with the onset of Diwali celebration on the Sunday evening, the action-thriller got impacted especially in the North India side.
With mixed reviews from all over the places, “Shivaay” opened to around 25% occupancy in the morning shows on Friday which is till fine but the business did not escalates in the evening and night shows. The action film mainly performed well in the single screens of tier-2 and tier-3 cities where the business should increase after Diwali. The first day opening ended with Rs 10.24 crores which was good but clash with Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil hai Mushkil” affected the business. The second day was good for “Shivaay” as the film remained steady and earned well to keep the momentum with Rs 10.06 crores.
The business of “Shivaay” got impacted on Sunday evening due to the grand Diwali celebration across India especially in North India bringing the collections to around Rs 6.25 crores. With Sunday collections, the total collections is coming around Rs 26-27 crores ( final numbers are awaited). The business will increase from here as the post-diwali session is generally good for film business.
