Bollywood witnessed the first clash of this year on 19th March – John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi starrer Mumbai Saga and Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra starrer Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.
The much awaited John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi starrer Mumbai Saga managed to pull in some numbers on Sunday. Though the the opening was average with Rs 2.82 crore, the collections went down on Saturday with Rs 2.40 crore. However, the crime drama threw in some good numbers on Sunday with a solid growth as compared to Saturday.
Mumbai Saga collected a very strong Rs 3.52 crore on Sunday, bringing the first weekend total to Rs 8.74 crore. Unfortunately, Mumbai Saga has released at the time when the COVID-19 cases have started increasing with Maharasthra hitting the most. The budget of Mumbai Saga is made on a budget of Rs 50 crore ( Production Cost: 40 Crore and Prints and Advertising cost: 10 Crores)
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar directed by Dibakar Banerjee, produced by Yash Raj Films, and starring Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor, suffered the most as the comedy-drama received average reviews.
While there buzz around the comedy drama is less, the tough competition will come from Mumbai Saga plus the rising COVID-19 cases played the spoilsports for Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar which collected somewhere between Rs 60-80 lakhs (final reports awaited). The budget of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is Rs 25 crore ( Production Cost: 15 Crore, Prints and Advertising cost: 10 Crores)
