Records are meant to be broken and that is what “Shivaay” is doing currently. Though, “Shivaay” still has a long way to got before it becomes break even and crosses the gigantic budget but the daily earnings is getting closer to Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”.
With mixed reviews from all over the places, the first day opening of “Shivaay” was Rs 10.24 crores followed by Rs 10.06 crores on Saturday. Sunday being the grand Diwali celebration, “Shivaay” could only mint Rs 8.26 crores but it was Monday where the table turned in different angle and the action-thriller, produced and directed by Ajay Devgan, took off with fabulous result raking in Rs 17.35 crores. The business did drop on Tuesday but was good enough to post healthy numbers with Rs 11.05 crores. The business on Wednesday did drop but was good enough to post a healthy numbers with Rs 7.40 crores bringing the total to Rs 64.36 crores and beating the previous record of “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai” which earned Rs 59 crores to become the ninth highest grossing film of Ajay Devgan. Next target is Prakash Raj’s “Satyagraha” which earned Rs 67.85 crores.
The budget of “Shivaay” is Rs 105 crores and should need to perform exceedingly well to do post healthy box office figures.
