Exactly a year back, Kangana Ranaut clashed with Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Manikarnika fought with Thackeray at the box office. She is back again and this time she will be waging Panga with Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Street Dancer 3D. Let us see which film has the potential to make it big at the box office on the first day.
Kangana Ranaut is back with yet another performance driven film, Panga, after two mind-blowing performances last year – Manikarnika-The Queen Of Jhansi and Judgementall Hai Kya, and accompanying her is Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, who directed magnificent films like Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi. Obviously, audience has high expectations from the sports drama, Panga.
Looking from the trailer of Panga (touched 50 million views), the sports-drama had generated curiosity among the audience as it is coming at the right time, although the songs have been average. Kangana Ranaut had already scored her second highest opening film with Tanu Weds Manu Returns (Rs 8.80 crore) while Manikarnika was close with Rs 8.35 crore. The advance booking of Panga is average and the current trend is showing that sports drama is pacing behind Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Manikarnika. Competition from Street Dancer and Tanhaji will be there. Panga is a content driven cinema and can get an opening of Rs 3-4 crores from 1450 and will depend entirely on the word-of-mouth reviews.
Street Dancer 3D
Street Dancer is a crucial film for two people – Remo D’Souza who has to prove himself after the disastrous Mohenjodaro at the box office and Varun Dhawan who needs to deliver hit after giving flop in form of Kalank.
Follow up to sequels ABCD and ABCD 2, the trailer of Street Dancer looks promising (59 million views) while the songs have generated buzzword. Shraddha Kapoor is popular after giving back to back hits with Chhichhore and Saaho and her pairing with Varun Dhawan after ABCD 2 has been well received. As per analysis, Street Dancer should open somewhere between Rs 14-15 from 3700 crore, though there will be competition from Tanhaji which is doing extremely good, especially in Maharasthta. The advance booking of the musical dance film is good while early reviews have been encouraging.
