In 2008, ace filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar came with an unconventional film titled ‘Fashion.’ It is considered one of the path-breaking film in Bollywood. The movie shed the light on the glamorous world of Fashion and its darker side as well. The journey of two models played by international star Priyanka Chopra and Queen actress Kangana Ranaut in the fashion and modeling industry.
It has well depicted the journey of a supermodel taking from her struggling face to reaching the peak of success and enjoying the stardom and then the negative phase wherein the arrogance of glamour gets into the head of the model which marks her decline in the industry. The most crucial stage is to make a comeback with yet again a new struggle.
Other than this the film gave us some impeccable fashion styles and trends. It changed people’s ideas of fashion and styling. The outfits of Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut as models are awe-inspiring. However, after 12 years the fashion world has evolved substantially but the fashion displayed in the film back in 2008 was phenomenal.
There is a quote in the film “Fashion mein jitna kum sochogi utna zyada kamaogi” (the less you think in fashion the more you earn). It explained fashion as a concept, industry, and style in one sentence. If one wants to be a stellar fashion icon then they need to think out of the box and unique. One should not think what others think of your fashion rather be experimental and stand out compared to others.
Fashion is how one wants to portray themselves in front of the people. Thus breaking the barriers makes one a fashion icon. Both the lead actress Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut has come a long way after this film. They have well defined their characters. Through their extraordinary fashion styles, they have made this film a huge success.
The movie tells that fashion is not only about clothes it is a lot more like make-up, hair, accessories, colors. The designers, stylists, and even photographers play a vital role. Most importantly Fashion is emotion as well.
