With 5000 screen counts across India and the post Diwali day holiday, Thugs Of Hindostan became the first Hindi film to touch the 50 crores milestone on its first day, minting a staggering Rs 52.25 crores (Including Tamil and Telgu versions). Thugs Of Hindostan has broken the record for the best opening film released in Diwali by beating Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which minted Rs 40.35 crores on its first day. As per Box Office India, Thugs Of Hindostan has beaten Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in the following regions :-

Delhi / UP

Thugs Of Hindostan – 9.75 crore
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 7.52 crore

CP Berar

Thugs Of Hindostan – 3 crore
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 2.39 crore

West Bengal

Thugs Of Hindostan – 2.30 crore
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 1.52 crore

Nizam / Andhra

Thugs Of Hindostan – 2.90 crore
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 2.21 crore

Thugs Of Hindostan has also defeated the box office opening of Salman Khan’s films like Sultan which collected Rs 36.54 crores on its first day and Tiger Zinda Hai which opened with Rs 34.10 crores.

The action adventure also comfortably surpassed the opening figures of Chennai Express which opened with Rs 33.10 crores and Dilwale which opened with Rs 21.80 crores ( It clashed with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani in 2016). Both films were directed by Rohit Shetty.
