The Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Rohan Mehra and Chitrangada Singh starrer Baazaar is earning decently on the lower end due to no major releases this week and remained stable on its second Monday
Directed by Gauravv K. Chawla and written by Aseem Arora and Parveez Sheikh, Bazaar catered to the multiplex audience, especially in Mumbai. The stock market drama opened on a bad note in the morning shows opening somewhere between just 5-10% occupancy but picked up in the evening and night shows ending the first day with decent Rs 3.07 crores.
The earnings showed a significant growth by almost 34% on Saturday especially due to Karva Chauth festival celebrated in North India and minted a good Rs 4.1 crores. There was further growth on Sunday to Rs 4.76 crores while collections were stable on its first Monday at Rs 1.70 crores. The collections on Tuesday held well with Rs 1.50 crores. The earnings was dipping further on Wednesday with Rs 1.30 crores. The earnings on Thursday was Rs 1.27 crores while Friday was decent with Rs 1.49 crores followed by a stable Saturday with Rs 1.50 crores. There was a slight growth on Sunday with Rs 1.71 crores bringing the overall collections to Rs 22.52 crores.
The collections went down on 2nd Monday with Rs 75 lakhs bringing the total to Rs 23.27 after spending 11 days at the ticket window. Considering the budget of film, these numbers are far away from reach, still these numbers are decent comparing to Saif Ali Khan’s past films like Chef or Kalakaandi which didn’t even touch double digit in their lifetime collections.
Baazaar should keep the momentum on the weekdays to make an impact at the ticket window. The budget of Bazaar looks to be around Rs 35 crores and is being produced by Nikhil Advani and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
