Today we will witness yet another clash between Abhishek Bachchan, Tapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal starrer Manmarziyaan and Jacky Bhagnani and Kritika Kamra starrer Mitron at the box office. Let us see which film has taken the edge over another.
Manmarziyaan had everything going in its favor – Nice trailer, good music by Amit Trivedi and fresh pairing of Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Tapsee Pannu. The good news is that Manmarziyaan has received good reviews across the critics board and opened better than Mitron. As per early trade estimates, Manmarziyaan has opened to an occupancy of 10-15% in the morning shows and should pick towards the evening and night shows. Lead cast have done well promoting the film and it will be interesting to see how Vicky Kaushal, who has become quite popular after Sanju, will pull this off. Anurag Kashyap’s films are generally low opener but high on critic’s radar. Manmarziyaan shall follow the same path, though this is one has more commercial value to it and should open between Rs 3-4 crores by end of its day. Manmarziyaan should benefit from North belt region where the film is set.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, who earlier made the critically acclaimed film Filmistaan, Mitron has received decent reviews till now. The quirky trailer, first song “This Party Is Over Now” which is breaking the internet along with “Sawarne Lage” and “Chalte Chalte” have been receiving good vibes. The promotion strategy which includes throwing up the Mitron Challenge for new business idea or shaking legs with dancing uncle, is working out well for the team. Due to the presence of lesser-known star cast – Jacky Bhagnani has been a struggling actor due for a hit while Kritika Kamra will debuting in Bollywood with this film, the comedy drama has opened on a dull note. However, the movie should pick up by evening and night shows , opening somewhere between Rs 1-2 crores. Mitron‘s main collection should come from Maharasthra and Gujarat, where the film is based.
Both Manmarziyaan and Mitron will face heat from Hollywood big release Predator and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree, which is still doing well at the box office.
