Box Office: Did Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma Manage To Make It Big On Its Opening Day?

Soorma has been released in the theatres today, which is a biopic starring Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role!

Biopics have become the favourites of the filmmakers in Bollywood. It was very recently that we had the film Sanju released, which was based on the life of the actor Sanjay Dutt. And the film did phenomenally well at the box office. In fact it is still going very strong in the cinemas. Now we have another biopic titled Soorma in the theatres.

The film has been based on the life of the Indian hockey player Sandeep Singh. He was paralyzed with an accidental gunshot right before the world cup. But with a never-give-up spirit, the star player worked hard and made an excellent comeback. Soorma has Diljit Dosanjh portraying his role, and he has done full justice to it.

Today was the first day of the film’s release and it has got a decent opening in the country. Since the film’s subject comes from the Northern India, hence the regions like Punjab and Delhi have had an occupancy of around 30-35%. The rest of the nation had a low opening of around 10-15%.

Soorma has been performing on the scales similar to Hichki and 102 Not Out. If the film manages to improve in Mumbai, then it might end up with a significant box office figure.

Talking about the film, Soorma, apart from Diljit Dosanjh, also stars Tapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles. The film has been directed by Shaad Ali.
