Sacred Games is a dark and gritty series that revolves around Sartaj Singh and Ganesh Gaitonde. The series is based on Vikram Chandra’s Novel ‘Sacred Games’, scripted by Varun Grover and is directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikram Aditya Motwane under the banner of Phantom Films.
The plot of the series starts with Sartaj receiving calls from Gaitonde who keeps narrating his story and concludes that the city is under threat before putting the gun to his head. Sartaj has 25 days to save the city and solve the mystery behind the suicide of Gaitonde.
The Cast –
Nawazuddin Siddiqui – From watching him getting beaten up in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S to this complex and compelling character he had done justice to which was brilliantly performed and crafted.
Saif Ali Khan – Saif plays the role of an honest cop (Sartaj Singh) and is truly the centre of attraction in whole series. The efforts put by him are commendable and have got good results at the same time.
Luke Kenny – If someone can actually define the term ‘Versatile’ , it’s none other than Luke Kenny. Being a film score composer in real life, this guy nailed the role of an assassin in his own calm way.
Kubbra Sait – Cuckoo is a big time queen and she gets what she wants. Apart from this Kubbra has beautifully played the role of a she-male which was an honour to watch.
Radhika Apte – Every-time this woman comes on big screen never fails to impress the audeince. The Lust Stories Actress, plays the role of a Raw Analyst in this series and her personality is more or less similar to that of Sartaj, just the character is different.
International Standards Are Rightly Set – We all know that Indian producers have the habit to reveal the interesting parts of the story in a slow manner but this doesn’t happen here. Infact the series starts with a bang on scene where a pomeranian is thrown from a high rise to its bloody death.
Setting – If it was not Mumbai, sacred games could not even reach to half of that level which it has reached now. When it comes to dealing with gangsters and cops, there is no other city like Mumbai where this series could have been shot in a way it is.
Anurag Kashyap has once again proved that with a right script and cast everything is possible. If you still haven’t watched Sacred Games, it’s high time that you should watch it on Netflix.
