Throwback Thursday : 7 Shows That All 90’s Kids Want Back ASAP

This Throwback Thursday, we go back to the time when 90’s kids used to come home excited post school to see the shows that made our childhood epic. It was long before when the sensationalised content took over the Television industry, there were shows made for sheer joy for the audience. Not to forget, 90’s kids and teenagers are said to have the best childhood because of the lack of technology advancements with which we grew up and also at the same time the kind of shows that were produced at our time that radiated the old school charm.

Here are 5 shows that will fill you up with all the nostalgia…

#7 Shriman Shrimati

This show is based on the premise of “love thy neighbour’s wife”where the main characters were Keshav Kulkarni and his wife Kokila, and their neighbours, Prema Shalini and her husband Dilruba. Keshav adores Prema Shalini who is more glamorous and sophisticated than his homemaker wife Kokila. Dilruba is interested in Kokila who is more his type rather than his film-star wife. The episodes are centered on their attempts to get closer to each other’s wives and the comical situations that result which left us rolling on the floor laughing.

 

#6 Dekh Bhai Dekh

The show revolves around three generations of the Diwan family, who live as an extended family in an ancestral bungalow in the suburbs of Mumbai. The serial takes the viewer through their various ups and downs. Their never-say-die attitude helps them overcome sibling rivalry, relationship troubles, business problems, irksome parents and in-laws. A distinctive feature of this show were its fast speaking characters and it will always be known for it’s original content and the happy vibes it shared.

 

#5 Office Office

Office Office is a legendary show depicing the working of a goverment office in India in a comical way that made people of all the generation laugh and connect with MussadiLal. It really showed the loopholes of the Indian government and the laid-back attutide of the people working there but with a pinch of salt and added humour.

 

#4 Shaktiman

When darkness get strengthened to destroy the world, Suryanshis chose Shaktimaan in order to fight against the forces of evil. Everyone used to sing along the title song of Shaktiman believing that we also had some super powers. and he swiftly became the first superhero of the Nation and everyone’s favourite.

 

#3 Khichdi

A family comedy surrounding an old man, his good for nothing son, Praful and wife saint Hansa, widow daughter in law Jayshree and their children, Jackie and Chakki, who are the smartest of them all. Praful and Hansa are the reason of the sense of humour we all have. We miss them dearly!

 

#2 Hip Hip Hurray

The story is based on the lives of 12th grade students at the DeNobili High School and their adventures, their fears and hopes, their relationships and interactions. Besides that the story also focuses on issues pertinent for the younger generation such as dating, careers, health, exams, causes in a light-hearted manner. It was truly a series way ahead of it’s time but at the same time, it was old-school and the characters still are fresh in our minds.

 

#1 Sarabhai vs Sarabhai

The show revolves around the lives of the members of an Uber Wealthy – High Society Gujarati family of Cuffe Parade – South Bombay, whose daughter-in-law is from a middle class Delhi background. The plot speaks for itself and it has become a cult-classic now thanks to the brilliant and wacky dialogues.

 

 

We can only hope that these shows make a comeback on Television and at the same time we feel damn sorry for this generation of kids and youngsters because of the shows they have to see. Sigh!
