The historical drama film Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran was released on last Friday. And the film has done very well on its opening weekend. The film stars John Abraham and Diana Penty in lead roles and is based on a real life event.

Parmanu’s business was somewhat affected by the semi final and final matches of the IPL 2018. But still the film managed to collect good enough numbers at the box-office.

The trade analyst Taran Adarsh informed about the film’s business as he tweeted saying, “#Parmanu crosses ₹ 20 cr mark… RESPECTABLE TOTAL… Limited promotion/awareness + #IPL semi-finals [Fri] and #IPL finals [Sun] hit biz hard… Weekdays crucial… Fri 4.82 cr, Sat 7.64 cr, Sun 8.32 cr. Total: ₹ 20.78 cr [1935 screens]. India biz.”

With 20.78 crore, John’s film has ranked seventh in the list of highest first weekend collections of 2018.

Talking about the film, it was earlier scheduled to release last year itself in the month of December. But it was pushed to this year to avoid a clash with Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat. The film had to be later delayed further due to the fallout between the production companies, John Abraham’s JA Entertainment and Prernaa Arora’s KriArj Entertainment.

Parmanu has been directed by Abhishek Sharma. The film is a historical action drama based on the nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army back in the year 1988 in Pokhran. Apart from John Abraham and Diana Penty, the film also stars Boman Irani and Anuja Sathe.
