Veere Di Wedding actor Shikha Talsania goes on a nostalgic ride in one of her recent interviews as she talks about her filmy family background and her character in buddy comedy, Veere Di Wedding alongside Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar.
Shikha Talsania’s parents, Tiku and Dipti Talsania, are popular faces on TV, film and theatre. Recently, she recalled travelling with them as a child while they were engaged in a Gujarati play, Sakha Sayara, which also featured Dilip and Sarita Joshi.
“I thought it was natural for people to grow up and become actors. The family also expected me to join the industry, but I decided to also explore other options, producing TV shows before I landed a role in Wake Up Sid in 2009. It took time and a lot of existential angst for me to figure that acting is what I really enjoy doing,” says Shikha Talsania.
Coming back to Veere Di Wedding, she stated that although she had no idea of the cast, she connected to the story of real women. “The rest was just icing on a beautiful three-tiered cake. And when I learnt who the producer and director were, well, that was sone pe suhaga,” said Shikha.
Songs were new to her, but exciting nonetheless. “When I was lip-syncing the first song I was really nervous. An encouraging ‘fab’ from Kareena made me really happy and after that I loved every sweaty bit of it, rehearsing diligently in my vanity van,” she reminisces.
Talking about her experience in working alongside fashion divas like Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, she said, “but when you enjoy your work it’s all a part of the deal”. When asked about the critics over the bold dialogues used in the film, she stated, “Some like coffee, others don’t, you just continue doing what you like. It’s an entertaining film that people would connect to,” she states confidently.
That’s not all, Shikha Talsania was all praises about Sonam Kapoor’s way of handling her professional and personal life post-marriage in such effortless ways. “The Kapoor family is always on fire. I haven’t met such successful multi-taskers in my life. The wedding happened between promotions and we went crazy. Sonam is a perfect example of a fierce and independent women,” Shikha Talsania says.
Well, we’re all eagerly awaiting this buddy comedy, Veere Di Wedding. Helmed by Rhea Kapoor, starring Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar as well as Shikha Talsania. To be releasing on 1st June!
