Sonam Kapoor had tied the knot with her long time boyfriend Anand Ahuja in Mumbai according to Sikh traditions!
The Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and the businessman Anand Ahuja are a wedded couple now. The two love birds had tied the knot in Mumbai on May 8, according to the Sikh traditions. The Anand Karaj had taken place at Sonam’s aunt’s residence in Bandra, which was followed by a grand reception party in the evening.
But now it seems like the wedding has hurt the sentiments of the Sikhs. The couple had apparently violated the Sikh ‘rehat maryada’.
For the couple’s wedding, Guru Granth Sahib was brought from the famous Golden Temple of Amritsar. Also, the former head priest of the temple, Jaswinder Singh was there to bless the newlyweds.
Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, the former general secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has accused the SGPC staffers of overlooking the rules. He said that while the couple was sitting in front of Guru Granth Sahib, the kalgi from groom’s turban was not removed.
He was quoted by The Tribune saying, “It was a violation of Sikh tenets if anyone sits before Guru Granth Sahib with a kalgi on turban. This implies that the person is equating himself to the stature of Gurus.”
He has brought this to the notice of Akal Takht and has demanded action to be taken against the officials who were incharge during the wedding.
Talking about the newlyweds, both of them have got busy with their work. Sonam is currently in the foreign land attending the Cannes Film Festival 2018. On the other hand, Anand is miles away from her in New Delhi.
