Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu starrer film October was released in the theatres on the last Friday.
The coming age drama October was released in the theatres on the last Friday and the film has been able to do pretty well. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Banita Sandhu and Gitanjali Rao in pivotal roles. After receiving great responses from the critics, the film has managed to a decent business at the box-office.
October, the film had earned around Rs 4.5 crore on its first day, which was a slow start. But the film managed to pick up pace and grossed around Rs 7 crore on Saturday followed by Rs 7.5 crore on Sunday. This made the overall total of the film reach Rs 19 crore, after its first weekend.
If the business of the film is compared to those of other Varun Dhawan starrers, then it is definitely way behind. But October is not a typical Varun Dhawan’s commercial masala film. And hence the collections were expected to be going this way. Also, it is an urban audience targeted film. And such kind of films almost have the same stories.
The film is still facing competition from Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani’s Baaghi 2, which was released on March 30, this year. Also, towards the end of this month on April 27, the Hollywood action adventure fantasy Avengers: Infinity War is going to release, which is going to attract most of the urban audiences.
So, October needs to have some good business before it starts losing out on its viewers to other films!
Talking about the film, October has been written by Juhi Chaturvedi and directed by Shoojit Sircar. Produced by Ronnie Lahiri, the film tells a beautiful tale about the two characters- Danish and Shiuli and an unconditional love.
