Was Kareena Kapoor Khan The First Choice For Kangana Ranaut’s Mental Hai Kya?

Apparently, Kareena Kapoor Khan had turned down the offer of doing the film Mental Hai Kya, which now stars Kangana Ranaut!

The posters of the upcoming film Mental Hai Kya have left everyone intrigued about its storyline. They see the main leads Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Roa doing the most insane things. And it has definitely attracted eyeballs creating an ample amount of buzz for the film. But now it seems that Kangana was not even the first choice for the film. It was actually Kareena Kapoor Khan who was offered this role. But she obviously turned it down.

A source told DNA, “In 2013, Ekta had pitched the idea to Bebo. She wanted to get Kareena and Emraan Hashmi on board for the film, which was previously titled Badtameez Dil. But it never materialised.”

The reason as told by the source is, “Bebo felt that the storyline was way ahead of its time. It was dark and explosive in many ways. It also had several bold scenes and nudity. Kareena politely refused the film and it was put on the back burner.”

But after five years and a little re-work on the story, the makers got Kangana on-board for the film. “The team has reworked the story, which has turned out even bolder now. Kangana loved it and agreed to do the film immediately,” said the source.

The source added on further saying, “Ekta Kapoor feels people are ready for a film like this and Kangana is perfect to play the main role. There’s no denying that she’s a terrific actress. Her never-give-a-damn attitude echoes with her on-screen character too.”

Well, after looking at the posters, all we can say is that nobody else could have done it better than Kangana! Meanwhile, the shooting of Mental Hai Kya has already begun.
